WareToBuy Autumn 2007

SpiceWareToBuyExAut07.gif

This season's WareToBuy guide is a resource and a reference guide focussed on producers, such as farmers and winemakers and suppliers such as butchers, gourment food producers, fruit and vegetable suppliers and providores.
We've made the rates very low to widen the opportunity for people to be involved, even those with very tight budgets. The directory is more effective and user friendly than a series of tiny ads with a more consistent look. Call 08 9433 1190 or email us if you'd like more information.

Slow Food from a Greek Island

From the desk of the Slow Food Perth convivium:

In 2005, Slow Food Greece member Sotiris Kitrilakis visited Western Australia and presented to Slow Food Perth members an event based around the food and culture of the Greek Ionian island of Zakynthos (also known as Zante), which is named in Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey. This month Sotiris has returned to Western Australia and Slow Food Perth is privileged and excited that he will be presenting a mezethes tasting celebrating the traditions of Greek island food.

Sotiris, a former NASA scientist, has a truly amazing background as a published writer, presenter and teacher in the food industry, all centred on his primary interest in Greek ingredients and food traditions. More recently he has set up an agro-tourism organisation, Zante Feastâ„¢, based on the island of Zakynthos. Here he conducts tours for those interested in artisan Mediterranean foods, sustainable agriculture and the way of life that prevails in the villages of the island. Refer to his website for more background information: www.zante-feast.org .

Please book early so as not to miss this wonderful opportunity, as this event is being held in conjunction with the Greek Language School Zephyros and numbers are limited. Contact Pauline Tresise for more information 9381 4519 or email slowfood_perth [AT] yahoo.com

Date/Time: Sunday 18 February 2007, starting 2.00pm sharp

Venue: Hellenic Club, 75 Stirling Street, Perth

Cost: Members $20.00 & Non-Members $29.00, which covers the presentation and sampling of the Greek mezethes (appetizers). Drinks can be purchased at the club.
